SSbD Conference: Accelerating the Industrial Transition
Hosted by the European Commission and the European SSbD Community, the "Safe and Sustainable by Design: Accelerating the Industrial Transition" Conference will take place on Thursday, 19 March 2026, from 08:30 to 18:00 (CET).
Focusing on the core fields of Industrial Research and Advanced Materials, this English-language conference offers an inclusive platform for dialogue. While in-person attendance at the Albert Borschette Conference Centre is currently at full capacity, attendees from all over Europe can still join the event online via a live stream that begins promptly at 08:30 CET.
Objectives
This summit highlights policy, scientific innovation, and industrial application.
Exploring Revised Framework: Exchange experiences and learn about the newly revised European Commission Recommendation on SSbD chemicals and materials (officially adopted mid-February).
Discovering Innovations: Dive into real-world showcases and breakthroughs straight from ongoing Horizon Europe projects.
Industrial Transformation: Discuss the critical role the SSbD approach plays in driving change, mapping out both the opportunities and the challenges of wider uptake at national and regional levels.
Empowering SMEs and Companies: Help kick-start the Commission’s work on the new EU Innovation and Substitution Hubs (announced in the Chemical Industry Action Plan) designed to assist companies in developing, testing, and scaling up SSbD innovations.
Draft Agenda is also available to read here.
Online registration will remain open until 17 March.
Safe and Sustainable by Design – Networking of Horizon Europe Projects
On 20 March 2026, the European Commission will host an exclusive, invitation-only networking gathering for Horizon Europe projects focused on the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework. Held at the Albert Borschette Conference Centre in Brussels, Belgium, the event offers a platform for industry experts and scientists to connect, collaborate, and share their latest research and innovation milestones.
Dr. Danail Hristozov (EMERGE) will be representing SUNRISE at this event!
ECC10 - EuChemS 2026
The 10th EuChemS Chemistry Congress (ECC10) is organized by the Royal Flemish Chemical Society (KVCV) from 12 – 16 July 2026 in the heart of Antwerp, Begium. Held since 2006, this congress has established itself as Europe’s most prestigious platform for researchers, educators, and industry leaders to showcase breakthroughs in the chemical sciences.
ECC10 is is a biennial crossroads where Nobel Laureates, industry pioneers, and the next generation of researchers meet to solve global challenges through chemical excellence. From the circular economy to life-saving pharmaceuticals, ECC10 showcases chemistry as the central science driving a sustainable future.
Program Highlights
ECC10 provides a program designed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and showcase latest scientific discoveries.
