SSbD24 Conference
The EU Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability envisions the transition towards safer and more sustainable chemicals and materials. In 2022 the European Commission published an initial Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) framework to support the development of new chemicals and materials and the re-design of existing ones. To enable this transition, safety and sustainability aspects need to be combined. This calls for multidisciplinary efforts from different stakeholders such as scientists, regulators and experts from industrial value chains.
The SSbD24 Conference on Monte Verità aims to bring together experts from various relevant fields and sectors who have started to work on specific methods, tools and criteria to enable the actual use of SSbD. Experts from industry and value chains using chemicals and materials will present their first-hand experience in applying the SSbD framework in case studies, and regulators will express their views on how to operationalize the concept and related policy needs.
A special session will be organized by and for Early Stage Researchers to help networking and get familiar with opportunities on SSbD related topics in- and outside academia. Further information will be provided during the registration.
